Free from the Stronghold of Indignation

When we believe we are being indignant for the things of God, we may be nurturing a stronghold of evil that can stay with us for the rest of our lives. Only God has a right to indignation.

Anger Controlls Him

The disciples were close to the Son [God in the flesh]. They heard Him speak daily. Yet they were wrongly indignant when a woman poured perfume on His feet.

We need to recognize this [human] stronghold for what it is and remove it. It is a religious spirit. How can we possibly think for the Lord? God knows far more than he revealed in His Word [the Bible].

The mind of God is infinitely more complex than our finite minds can conceive. The strongest of all believers can’t fathom the depth of the goodness God has in store for those who love him.

Allow God the indignation. His is righteous anger. He knows our minds, thoughts, and our hearts and motives more than we do. If we become indignant we remove God from his throne and place ourselves there instead.

5 Biblical tips to overcome indignation:

1. Allow God to be the final judge.

Job 21:22 “Can anyone teach God knowledge, Since He judges those on high?

Psalm 50:6 Let the heavens declare His righteousness, For God Himself is Judge.  Selah

Psalm 75:7 But God is the Judge: He puts down one, And exalts another.

Acts 10:42-43 He ordered us to warn the people, ‘God has appointed Jesus to judge the living and the dead.’ 43In addition, all the prophets testify that people who believe in the one named Jesus receive forgiveness for their sins through him.”

2. Acknowledge that God came in the flesh in the person of Jesus Christ.

1 John 3:3 And everyone who has this hope [resting] on Him cleanses (purifies) himself just as He is pure (chaste, undefiled, guiltless).

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.

3. Humble your self to God and His Will.

James 4:6 But He gives us more and more grace ( power of the Holy Spirit, to meet this evil tendency and all others fully). That is why He says, God sets Himself against the proud and haughty, but gives grace [continually] to the lowly (those who are humble enough to receive it).

4. Never place yourself or your thoughts and actions above God.

Job 32:2 Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, became indignant. His indignation was kindled against Job because he justified himself rather than God [even made himself out to be better than God].

5. Don’t allow jealousy to dictate your actions or reactions.

Acts 5:16-18 16And the people gathered also from the towns and hamlets around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those troubled with foul spirits, and they were all cured.17But the high priest rose up and all who were his supporters, that is, the party of the Sadducees, and being filled with jealousy and indignation and rage,

Job 5:2 For vexation and rage kill the foolish man; jealousy and indignation slay the simple.
