Free from the Stronghold of Anorexia
With so much emphasis on obesity these days there is a segment of society that seems to be ignored. Obesity is a very real stronghold in the lives of those addicted to food or who have a hormone deficiency. But what about the intimidation and fear that comes on those who feel obese but are in fact, anorexic?
Anorexia nervosa is a disorder characterized by fear of becoming fat and refusal of food, leading to debility and even death.
Emaciated, weak, and emotionally distraught, a person with anorexia may exist for years on little or no food in order to obtain the desired body shape they obsess over. Denial plays a major role in keeping the victim host entrenched in this demonic stronghold. The anorexic does not see the truth or true mirrored image.
Low self esteem, idolatry, insecurity, greed, and believe it or not, selfishness, are some the strongholds that increase denial in the victim host. The victim host may have areas that are completely out of control. Refusing to eat is a way of controlling one aspect of life. But it can lead to one of the most dangerous strongholds.
Teens and young adults rebelling against parents may choose to stop eating or even lose appetite for food. There may also be other reasons for anorexia beside eating little or nothing. If you are losing weight without intention extensive medical tests are needed to uncover the underlying cause.
Unless this stronghold is recognized and dealt with early, death is possible. Remember Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. Any stronghold in our lives is demonic or encouraged by wrong thinking that opens a pathway to demonic activity.
1. If you have received Christ understand that it is your responsibility to keep your body strong and healthy.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own, 20You were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for, made His own]. So then, honor God and bring glory to Him in your body.
2. Stop judging yourself by your appearance. Our earthly bodies are not meant to last forever. Our appearance has no bearing on what is inside us.
1 Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, Look not on his appearance or at the height of his stature, for I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.
3. Don’t become a slave to wrong thinking. You belong to the Lord. Your body is His temple. Eat healthy foods daily as much as it is possible.
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not [any longer] exert dominion over you, since now you are not under Law [as slaves], but under grace [as subjects of God's favor and mercy].
Galatians 4:7 Therefore, you are no longer a slave (bond servant) but a son [or daughter]; and if a son [or daughter], then [it follows that you are] an heir by the aid of God, through Christ.
4. Don’t allow the world to dictate your decisions and choices, especially when it comes to your body. Allow God to guide you.
Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
5. If you have not yet accepted salvation and deliverance through Christ Jesus by all means call out to Jesus–get to know the truth. Free to be Sure of Salvation
Revelation 19:9 Then [the angel] said to me, Write this down: Blessed (happy, [to be envied) are those who are summoned (invited, called) to the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he said to me [further], These are the true words (the genuine and exact declarations) of God.
Romans 10:13 For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord [invoking Him as Lord] will be saved.
