Free from the Stronghold of Deception
The stronghold of deception tugs rebellion along with it. Deception entered the world the moment Eve was deceived and sinned. She ate the fruit and believed the serpent [Satan] over God. Adam sinned by eating the fruit knowing that it was wrong. Both were in rebellion against God–a rebellion that had its beginnings in deception.
Men as well as women have been deceived, and have deceived, throughout history in various ways and for various reasons. Today this stronghold thrives. It enters relationships, religions, governments, businesses, homes, families, nations, and every venue where it finds an opening.
Women have been accused of being particularly susceptible to deception. But men do not escape its clutches either. Deception walks hand in hand with a stronghold of lies when it attempts to manipulate the outcome of its objective. To defraud is its goal. Once the victim of this stronghold has been deprived of its money, rights, truth, or property, the victim becomes vulnerable.
The delusion of deception can be confusing. It is always destructive. Both the host and the victim will eventually be harmed. Until we recognize this stronghold we may always be vulnerable to hosting it or being victimized by it. There is an answer.
5 Biblical tips to overcome deception:
1. Get to know God’s will in every situation. The more you know about the will of God, and accept the will of God, the less chance you have of being deceived or being the deceiver.
Romans 7:9-12 And I was alive apart from law once, and the command that [is] for life, this was found by me for death; 11for the sin, having received an opportunity, through the command, did deceive me, and through it did slay [me]; 12so that the law, indeed, [is] holy, and the command holy, and righteous, and good.
2. Do not allow any words, actions or suggestions into your life if they go against the word of God or God’s will.
2 Corinthians11:3-4 (YLT) and I fear, lest, as the serpent did beguile Eve in his subtilty, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that [is] in the Christ; 4for if, indeed, he who is coming doth preach another Jesus whom we did not preach, or another Spirit ye receive which ye did not receive, or other good news which ye did not accept — well were ye bearing [it],
3. No matter who you are, remain in Christ. Woman [particularly] remaining in Christ gain understanding and credibility.
John 15:1-11I AM the True Vine, and My Father is the Vinedresser. 2Any branch in Me that does not bear fruit [that stops bearing] He cuts away (trims off, takes away); and He cleanses and repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear more and richer and more excellent fruit. 3You are cleansed and pruned already, because of the word which I have given you [the teachings I have discussed with you]. 4Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me, and I will live in you.] Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me.
Galatians 3:28 There is [now no distinction] neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
4. Remain true to what you profess.
2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no one deceive or beguile you in any way, for that day will not come except the apostasy comes first [unless the predicted great falling away of those who have professed to be Christians has come], and the man of lawlessness (sin) is revealed, who is the son of doom (of perdition),
Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived and deluded and misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at (scorned, disdained, or mocked by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside.) [He inevitably deludes himself who attempts to delude God.] For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap.
5. Keep good company particularly with other Christians who walk the walk.
1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be so deceived and misled! Evil companionships (communion, associations) corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and character.
