Free from the Stronghold of Ranting
This stronghold is rarely addressed but is vital. It kills relationships destroying businesses, communities, churches, groups, marriages, and all fellowships. Ranting has rage at its core. Unlike nagging, which is faultfinding, or a plea for rational or irrational change, ranting is destructive and demanding.
Our society confuses a ranter with raving. The two are rarely synonymous. Raving sings praises while ranting spews anger and rage. Language turned upside down confuses the real issues. Bad is the good of slang for some cultures in the US.
Ranting, spewed with utmost anger or rage, is the fit of violent anger that rage carries on its tongue and has nothing to do with the raving that critics give for a good performance.
A ranter sometimes talks thoughts in a forceful manner without filtering anything that’s being said. Ranting is a form of abuse. It is aggressive and may be a prelude to destruction. If ranting is left unchecked, it will continue until there is an incident.
Denial masks the ranter’s behavior. Ranting can become a stronghold that may live with the host for years without notice by the host. If left unchecked it will invite other strongholds such as terror, violence, strife, torment, bullying, low self esteem, and much more.
In order for ranting to be stopped, the host must face denial.
5 Biblical tips to overcome ranting:
1. Avoid conflict with fools. Do not engage in disagreements with them. If you can’t avoid it, answer them with the Word of God and do not rant.
Proverbs 26:4 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.
Proverbs 29:9 If a wise person takes a fool to court, there will be ranting and ridicule but no satisfaction.
2. Obtain Biblical wisdom. The more biblical wisdom you obtain the easier it is to avoid ranting or ranters.
Ecclesiastes 9:17 The quiet words of the wise are more effective than the ranting of a king of fools.
3. Ask God for discernment and clarity when dealing with others.
2 Corinthians 11:12-15 But what I do, I will continue to do, [for I am determined to maintain this independence] in order to cut off the claim of those who would like [to find an occasion and incentive] to claim that in their boasted [mission] they work on the same terms that we do. 13For such men are false apostles [spurious, counterfeits], deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles (special messengers) of Christ (the Messiah). 14And it is no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light; 15So it is not surprising if his servants also masquerade as ministers of righteousness. [But] their end will correspond with their deeds.
4. When you instruct, use only Godly arguments and wisdom. Again, answering a fool foolishly can only cause you grief. Answer a fool according to his folly, but not as if you were a fool as well.
2 Corinthians 10:2-4 I entreat you when I do come [to you] that I may not [be driven to such] boldness as I intend to show toward those few who suspect us of acting according to the flesh [on the low level of worldly motives and as if invested with only human powers].3For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons. 4For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds,
Proverbs 26:5 Answer a [self-confident] fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes and conceit.
5. Draw close to God. The closer you draw to the Lord, the more you will understand the silence of Jesus when he was interrogated. Even in his silence he was wise. God, after all, had a time and place for his delivery and ultimately for our salvation.
Ecclesiastes 3:7 A time to rend and a time to sew, a time to keep silence and a time to speak,
Psalm 31:18 Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
1 Peter 2:15 For it is God’s will and intention that by doing right [your good and honest lives] should silence (muzzle, gag) the ignorant charges and ill-informed criticisms of foolish persons.
