Free to Learn the Truth
Our textbooks are conforming to political correctness. Some academic and historical text included in schools and colleges today is true, some is distorted, and some of it is completely false.
Even a few Bible translations are conforming to fit today’s more progressive [human] thinking.
If we have access to the internet we have contrasting truths and some denying that there is truth. Internet gossip further twists reality and spreads quickly. The truth is that human truth depends on the tongue of the informant.
Confusion is not our nature. Our inner being wants to know the absolute truth, come to a considered decision–choosing without being coerced– based on truth and not on someone else’ agenda.
So, how do we know the truth? What can we be sure of? Is there any truth we can trust?
5 Biblical tips to assurance of truth.
1. Repent and receive Christ. There is no other way. Life without Christ –with only human reasoning to direct us– will always confuse us and cause us to eventually do what is wrong [in God's sight].
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.
John 8:32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
2. Beware of false teachers. They will seduce you if you allow them to.
Galatians 4:16-17 Have I then become your enemy by telling the truth to you and dealing sincerely with you? 17These men [the Judaizing teachers] are zealously trying to dazzle you [paying court to you, making much of you], but their purpose is not honorable or worthy or for any good. What they want to do is to isolate you [from us who oppose them], so that they may win you over to their side and get you to court their favor.
1 Timothy 6:3-5 Whoever teaches false doctrine and doesn’t agree with the accurate words of our Lord Jesus Christ and godly teachings 4is a conceited person. He shows that he doesn’t understand anything. Rather, he has an unhealthy desire to argue and quarrel about words. This produces jealousy, rivalry, cursing, suspicion, 5and conflict between people whose corrupt minds have been robbed of the truth. They think that a godly life is a way to make a profit.
3. Turn to God for truth. Without His Word and the Holy Spirit, which directs us to the truth, we will be easy prey for evil.
Isaiah 59:14-15 [God knows without him we have no truth] Justice is turned away backward, and righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God) stands far off; for truth has fallen in the street (the city’s forum), and uprightness cannot enter [the courts of justice]. 15Yes, truth is lacking, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. And the Lord saw it, and it displeased Him that there was no justice.
John 17:17 Sanctify them [purify, consecrate, separate them for Yourself, make them holy] by the Truth; Your Word is Truth.
4. Trust God to guide you in your decisions. When we accept Christ we are given the Holy Spirit to guide us.
John 16:13 But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future].
5. Take a stand for your faith — do not turn back.
Ephesians 6:14 So then, take your stand! Fasten truth around your waist like a belt. Put on God’s approval as your breastplate.
