No matter how the life of a true believer is examined, in the end victory is sure. In the world, in some of the most dire circumstances, people have seen victory not only for themselves, but for the cause they claimed. But at what price? Only those of us who are in Christ can claim a sure victory even after death.
A believer is assured of victory, not because of what we do, but because of what God has already done for us. Why are we sure of this victory? Many know the drill, Christ was crucified, buried, and resurrected for our sins. In fact, even Satan knows this. But how can we be sure that this victory belongs to us? It certainly doesn’t belong to Satan.
As we move forward in our struggles to gain victory over the world financially, physically, emotionally, and by doing all the good and right things we can to get ahead, we often experience failure. Success or victory is illusive. We worked hard, we planted good seed in good ground, we studied, learned all we could about what it takes, and then nothing.
One of the finest presidents of the U.S., attributed with freeing the African slaves, and winning a victory that today allows an African American to sit in the whitehouse as president, had many failures in his life before the victory was won. But was this victory sure? Even after his victory was won, he was shot and killed while in office.
As true believers, we have a permanent victory that can never be lost in death, and we have a right to claim this victory for our entire existence. So what does it take to be 100% sure of this victory?
1. Become Born Again. Have faith. When we put our trust and faith in Jesus Christ we can be sure of an eternal victory.
John 3:3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. ”
1 Peter 1:23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.
1 John 5:4-5 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
2. In everything you do, do it as if you are doing it for the Lord in the name of the Lord.
1 Corinthians 10:26 For the [whole] earth is the Lord’s and everything that is in it.
Ephesians 5:20 Always thank God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Colossians 3:17 Everything you say or do should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
3. Follow the will of God. The word of God is the will of God. Follow it faithfully.
Romans 12:2o Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
4. If you fall, get right back up again. Jesus completed our salvation on the cross. There is nothing more that we can do. As Jesus said, “Go and sin no more.”
1 John 2:1 MY LITTLE children, I write you these things so that you may not violate God’s law and sin. But if anyone should sin, we have an Advocate (One Who will intercede for us) with the Father–[it is] Jesus Christ [the all] righteous [upright, just, Who conforms to the Father's will in every purpose, thought, and action].
Romans 8:1 THEREFORE, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit.
5. Have faith in, and become one with, Christ. Examine the links below.
Through Christ everything was created. Christ’s divinity was not created. He already existed with the Father. He is, [was and always will be] one with the Father and the Spirit, eternal in nature. Christ was One with God, the Father, from the beginning.
1 Corinthians 8:6 But for us, “There is only one God, the Father. Everything came from him, and we live for him. There is only one Lord, Jesus Christ. Everything came into being through him, and we live because of him.”
Revelation 4:11 “Our Lord and God, you deserve to receive glory, honor, and power because you created everything. Everything came into existence and was created because of your will.”
Ephesians 2:4-5 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!
