This host is always on guard, always ready to battle anyone or anything that does not line up with its perception of self or events, or its own thinking. If this attitude becomes a stronghold, the host may invite spirits of paranoia, perfectionism, religion, animosity, and even abuse. The new strongholds may invite others and so on until the condition of the host is worsened.

Confusion will set in and an inability to discern right from wrong may cause the very condition the host of a defensive spirit is guarding against. There is only one way to demolish this demonic stronghold and live a life of peace, discerning right from wrong, good from evil, and the truth of trueness of life that comes from submission to God.

Defensiveness may seep into our lives as the result of a catastrophe against us or someone we love. This circumstance may be perceived as a catastrophe only to us, but our resultant reaction may cause trauma to others. Before we allow a spirit of defensiveness to set in, we must clear our minds of any preconceived notions about the intended threat or criticism.

5 Biblical tips to overcome defensiveness:

1. Submit to God and allow him to guide your actions and reactions. Let him take care of anything that could cause defensiveness.

Isaiah 54:17 But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the ideal Servant of the Lord is reproduced]; this is the righteousness or the vindication which they obtain from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says the Lord.

2. Do your research well. Don’t listen to, or participate in, gossip. Keep your mind on God.

Leviticus 19:16 Never gossip. Never endanger your neighbor’s life. I am the Lord.

Proverbs 28:26 He who leans on, trusts in, and is confident of his own mind and heart is a [self-confident] fool, but he who walks in skillful and godly Wisdom shall be delivered.

3. Forgive. This is one of the hardest actions we will take, but it must be undertaken.

Matthew 6:15 But if you don’t forgive others, your Father will not forgive your failures.

4. Do not jump to conclusions. Check everything out with the Word of God. Remember, a spirit of defensiveness can confuse us, so it’s best to get godly input before you act on anything that is causing you to have suspicion.

1 Timothy 6:3-4 Whoever teaches false doctrine and doesn’t agree with the accurate words of our Lord Jesus Christ and godly teachings ⁴ is a conceited person. He shows that he doesn’t understand anything. Rather, he has an unhealthy desire to argue and quarrel about words. This produces jealousy, rivalry, cursing, suspicion,

5. Wait. After you have gathered all the information, prayed, submitted to God, and have forgiven, then wait for God’s guidance in any matter causing defensiveness because he is waiting for you to get right with him.

Psalm 62:5 Wait calmly for God alone, my soul, because my hope comes from him.

Isaiah 30:18 The Lord is waiting to be kind to you. He rises to have compassion on you. The Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who wait for him or for the right time, or occasion.

Having faith in God requires our cooperation. When we procrastinate on doing the things we know need to be done, we slow our progress and we delay our blessings, or the blessings of others. Procrastination unchecked and unchanged can lead to death.

If we procrastinate, it can carry over into all aspects of our lives, including personal, business, spiritual, and social. When procrastination becomes a stronghold it can bring strongholds of neglect, despair, defeat, confusion, hopelessness, doubt, destruction, and any number of demonic strongholds along with it.

If we submit to the stronghold of procrastination, we open the door to depression, regression, oppression and suppression–in other words, all the strongholds that try to bind us and keep us from moving forward, completing tasks at hand and receiving God’s best.

1.Begin each day with prayer and praise. Include God from the moment you rise. Remember each day we live is a gift from God. Gratitude carries no pain or negative feelings along with it. Nor does it invite procrastination.

Psalm 103:2 Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits—

2. Organize your time at the beginning of your day by listing your tasks and the time it will take to complete them, allowing time to be flexible, time for family and friends, and time for prayer throughout the day.

Ephesians 5:15-16 Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), ¹⁶ Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil.

3. Check off tasks as you complete them. Completed tasks give us a sense of victory. Each completed task is an accomplishment and each accomplishment should bring satisfaction.

Psalm 128:2 You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.

4. Schedule a complete day of rest into your life. God did not rest on the seventh day because he needed rest. but because he needed us too know the importance of rest.

Exodus 34:21 “Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest. In plowing time and in harvest you shall rest.

5. Don’t expect everything to happen at once. But move forward knowing that God has promised to bless you. Remember everything has a season and a time to every purpose under heaven. Expect the profound joy that will eventually come.

It is a form of divination–foretelling the future by supernatural or occult means. In effect, telling the future by using astrology is fortune telling. It is totally against the word of God or his will. Why?

This stronghold is controlled by the dark side of the supernatural. It assumes to divine wisdom from heavenly bodies. It does not consider God and his will as supreme and final. A human attempt to read the heavens and interpret God’s will departs from God’s will. As in witchcraft, it uses nature as a means of gaining power or in this case, insight and wisdom.

Any power or wisdom outside of God comes from the evil one. God’s word, the Bible, says it best:

5 Biblical tips to overcome the stronghold of horoscopy.

1. Repent and submit to God. If you were ever drawn to the supernatural in any way, you need deliverance. The only true deliverance comes from submitting to God and receiving Christ.

Psalm 34:19 Many evils confront the [consistently] righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.

Matthew 6:13 And lead (bring) us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

4. Turn to God in prayer once you understand his will. He will answer all your prayers if you ask according to his word.

5. Never look back. Once you come to know God in truth, your life is in his hands. Never put yourself back into the hands of the enemy.

This stronghold works through the churches, the media, our families, our friends, our own thoughts and words, our choices, our homes and loved ones, and every other avenue where it can get a foothold. A stronghold of agnosticism is part of the spirit of antichrist.

True unblemished faith in God can move a mountain, raise the dead, heal the sick, save the lost, heal families, restore marriages, give us peace in the midst of a storm, give us love for the unlovable, and heal every situation we face in life. Without the spirit of agnosticism we would make appropriate choices, trust in God completely, be at peace at all times, and be sure of our salvation.

2 Corinthians 4:4 For the god of this world has blinded the unbelievers’ minds [that they should not discern the truth], preventing them from seeing the illuminating light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ (the Messiah), Who is the Image and Likeness of God.

What is agnosticism, you ask? The doctrine or belief of an agnostic–a person who holds that the existence of the ultimate cause, as God, and the essential nature of things are unknown and unknowable, or that human knowledge is limited to experience.

So why does Jesus Christ say otherwise? What can we do to prevent this horrible, disgusting spirit from influencing us?

5 Biblical tips to overcome agnosticism:

1. Pray, trust, and believe. The, ‘you never know what God will do’ type of attitude will draw in agnosticism. Avoid it at all costs. Pray also for those God puts in your life.

Mark 11:24 For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].

John 17:20 Neither for these alone do I pray [it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for all those who will ever come to believe in (trust in, cling to, rely on) Me through their word and teaching,

2. Refute any argument that sets itself up against truth in Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God who was one with God from the beginning, was not created, but through him all things were created.

2 Corinthians 10:5 [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),

3. Search the scriptures for what’s available before you pray. If you ask according to His will and with the right motive, faith, and trust in Him, God will give you what you ask.

Psalm 78:18 And they tempted God in their hearts by asking for food according to their [selfish] desire and appetite.

1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us.

4. Expect trouble. Life is not an easy road. But cheerfully expect the blessings. Do not use trouble as a catalyst for the spirit of agnosticism to become a stronghold in your life.

John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]

5. Patiently wait for God to act. Expect God to act on your behalf in every area of your life.

Psalm 43:5 Why are you cast down, O my inner self? And why should you moan over me and be disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, Who is the help of my [sad] countenance, and my God.

If we are to experience God’s best and have life more abundantly, we need to shrug off the pressures that bind us to a world we only visit for 80 or 90 years. It’s difficult to explain eternity to someone who has a mind for the world, and the here and now. But eternity exists.

Success in the world will never last. Pressure to perform, to climb the ladder, to please a crumbling world, is a potential catalyst for us to be instrumental in pushing the world into a quicker destruction, and humanity into a sad remnant of what might have been had we followed God’s lead.

When we take the time out of our busy schedules to consider God and his will for our lives, if just for a fleeting moment, we are able to see our lives from a godly perspective. If our hope is in ourselves or in the world or in something other than God, the pressure will build, we will age quicker, die sooner, and have only a fraction of the true prosperity God desires for us. Financial wealth holds no hope for eternity and can be removed from us in an instant.

Jeremiah 29:11 I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord. They are plans for peace and not disaster, plans to give you a future filled with hope.

How can we achieve the best God has for us without caving into a stronghold of pressure and at the same time have a hope that lasts for eternity?

5 Biblical tips to stay clear of pressure:

1. Enjoy the blessings God has given you. God has equipped each of us with special gifts. When we use these gifts rightly, according to his will, there is no pressure to perform. God is with us and guiding us in all we do.

John 1:16 For out of His fullness (abundance) we have all received [all had a share and we were all supplied with] one grace after another and spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing and even favor upon favor and gift [heaped] upon gift.

2. Spend time with God daily and remember him and his will in every aspect of your life and every decision you make. Don’t put God on the back burner, reserved for times of disaster.

Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

3. Don’t cave in to pressure. Peer pressure and pressure from others without God’s will for you will confuse you and can steer you into the wrong path. It’s never to late to get back in his will and receive his blessings.

1 Timothy 6:9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

Matthew 18:7 “Woe to the world for temptations to sin! For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the one by whom the temptation comes!

4. Check with God first. No matter what you plan to do, God has an answer for you. He has a plan for you. He will not steer you into an area that does not agree with his word, does not have your best in mind, or where he won’t prepare you.

2 Timothy 3:16 Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action),

1 Thessalonians 5:21 But test and prove all things [until you can recognize] what is good; [to that] hold fast.

5. Wait for God’s answer. Don’t barge forward until you know God’s will. You may be waiting around for awhile, but you will never be forsaken. God will answer and open the doors where he intends for you to be, where you will have peace and joy, and where he can bless you [and sometimes bless others through your life].

Psalm 37:7 Be still and rest in the Lord; wait for Him and patiently lean yourself upon Him; fret not yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass.

Isaiah 40:31 But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.
